4 ManyChat Alternatives for Coaches Who Sell in DMs

The ManyChat alternatives for coaches worth your time are Chatfuel, Respond.io, GoHighLevel and AiSensy, and choosing between them has less to do with features than with one question: are you buying a flow builder, a shared team inbox, or an agency CRM. Those are three different products wearing similar screenshots, and only one of the three shapes fits a person working alone.
Most coaches arrive at this question for one of three reasons. The active contact ladder started to bite. The branching flows stopped feeling worth a Tuesday afternoon. Or the automation did its job perfectly, the link went out in four seconds, and the discovery call still did not get booked. The first two are tool problems and switching helps. The third one is not, and you deserve to hear that before you spend a weekend migrating.
TL;DR
- Chatfuel is the closest in spirit to ManyChat: Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, a free Light plan without a card, and an AI PRO tier announced at 49 dollars a month.
- Respond.io is an omnichannel inbox built for sales teams, announced from 79 dollars a month on annual billing, with five seats you will probably never fill.
- GoHighLevel is an agency CRM announced from 97 dollars a month, with usage fees on top of the subscription and WhatsApp sold as an add on.
- AiSensy is WhatsApp and nothing else, with a free forever tier, and its published pricing page is in Indian rupees.
- Every figure below was announced on the vendor's own pricing page as verified on 24 July 2026. ManyChat and AiSensy prices depend on your billing country, so open your own page before you commit to anything.

Why coaches start looking for a ManyChat alternative
Almost nobody searches for this because the software crashed. They search because of a bill, a Sunday, or a silence.
The bill is the most common trigger. ManyChat charges on active contacts per month, which is not your follower count and not the number of messages you send. It is how many people you interacted with in the month, and a single reel that performs well can push you up a tier you did not plan for. If that is your reason, read the full ManyChat review for coaches before you leave, because the pricing ladder is explained there plan by plan and a cheaper competitor is rarer than you would expect.
The Sunday is the second trigger. You built a flow with four branches, then a fifth for people who answer with an emoji, then a sixth for people who answer twice. Flow builders reward tinkering, and tinkering feels like work. If you recognise yourself, the honest fix is fewer branches rather than another builder, and the approach we describe for automating Instagram DMs is deliberately smaller than what most tools invite you to build.
The silence is the third, and it is the one no tool on this page addresses. The keyword triggered, the link went out, the person opened it, and then nothing. The trigger worked. The conversation never started. Switching vendors changes who bills you, not what happens in that thread.
The four alternatives at a glance
| Tool | Best suited to | Channels | Free access | Announced entry price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ManyChat (the reference) | Creators and social first brands | Instagram DM, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS, email | Yes, 25 active contacts a month | 0 dollars, then 14 dollars a month |
| Chatfuel | Small teams wanting automation plus an AI coworker | Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp | Yes, Light plan, no card required | 0 dollars, then 49 dollars a month |
| Respond.io | Sales teams sharing one omnichannel inbox | WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, TikTok, email, SMS, calls | No, 7 day trial without a card | 79 dollars a month on annual billing |
| GoHighLevel | Agencies reselling under their own brand | Email, SMS, calls, social, WhatsApp as an add on | No, 14 day trial that bills automatically | 97 dollars a month, plus usage |
| AiSensy | Businesses that live entirely on WhatsApp | WhatsApp only | Yes, a free forever tier | Rs 1500 a month on the India page |
Four caveats that belong with that table. ManyChat and AiSensy publish prices that depend on where you are billed, so the number you see may not be the number you pay. Respond.io publishes its ladder on annual billing, and a pure monthly plan would sit higher. GoHighLevel and AiSensy both charge usage on top of the subscription, so the entry price is a floor rather than a bill. And Chatfuel does not publish its contact or conversation limits on its pricing page, which is worth knowing before you plan a launch around it.
The four ManyChat alternatives for coaches one by one
Chatfuel
The nearest neighbour. Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, a Meta business partner, and a positioning built around automation plus an AI coworker for small teams. The Light plan is free and does not ask for a card, which makes it the cheapest way to find out whether your own audience responds to a comment trigger at all.
The AI PRO tier is announced at 49 dollars a month, with annual billing advertised around 29 percent cheaper without the exact figure being displayed. That is 35 dollars a month more than ManyChat's first paid tier, so nobody should switch here to save money. You switch here because you prefer how it handles the assisted replies, or because you want a Meta partner that is not ManyChat.
The one thing to check yourself: the numeric limits are not on the pricing page. If your launch week doubles your inbox, you want to know what happens at that ceiling before the week starts, not during it.
Fits you if you sell on Instagram and WhatsApp, you work alone or with one assistant, and you want to test something free today.
Respond.io
A genuinely strong product aimed at a reader who is not you. It is an omnichannel inbox, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, TikTok, email, SMS and calls in one place, with AI on top, and it is built for sales teams who pass conversations between each other.
The tiers are announced at 79, 159 and 279 dollars a month on annual billing. A pure monthly plan would be higher, and the figures you see quoted around 99, 199 and 349 are deductions rather than published prices, so treat them as estimates. Seats come in blocks of five or ten, extra seats are announced between 12 and 24 dollars, and active contacts start at a thousand on the higher tiers. There is no free plan, but the 7 day trial does not ask for a card.
For one person, that is a lot of inbox for a room with one chair. Nothing is wrong with the tool. It is just sized for a team, and you are paying for the seats either way.
Fits you if you already have two or three people answering messages and the handoff between them is the actual problem.
GoHighLevel
An all in one CRM built for agencies, including a white label mode for reselling the platform to clients. Email, SMS, calls, social, WhatsApp available as an add on announced at 10 dollars a month per sub account, and Instagram through integrations.
Tiers are announced at 97, 297 and 497 dollars a month, with an enterprise plan on quote. There is no free plan, and the 14 day trial bills automatically at the end. Contacts and users are unlimited, which sounds generous until you read the next line: SMS, email, telephony and AI are billed as usage on top of the subscription, and those rates are not quantified on the pricing page. The AI Employee product is announced separately between 50 and 97 dollars a month.
This is a serious platform doing exactly what it says. It is also the least appropriate choice on this page for a solo coach who came here to stop paying for contacts, because usage pricing is the one model where a good month costs you more.
Fits you if you run an agency, you serve clients under your own brand, and you want one system for everything.
AiSensy
The specialist. WhatsApp Business API and campaigns, nothing else, no Instagram. There is a Free Forever tier that includes free WhatsApp API access and a small credit balance, then plans announced at Rs 1500 and Rs 3200 a month on the India pricing page, with enterprise on quote. One owner plus five agents are included, and an additional agent is announced at Rs 750 a month.
Two things to hold in mind. The published page is in rupees, an international price exists but we have not verified it, and converting the rupee figure yourself will give you a number that is not what you would be charged. Meta template fees also apply on top of the subscription, which is normal for any WhatsApp API provider and still belongs in your budget.
Fits you if WhatsApp is not one of your channels but the whole business, which is common for consultants selling in France, the Maghreb, India or Brazil. Our guide on using WhatsApp to book calls covers what that looks like day to day.
How to choose without regretting it in three months
Five questions, in this order. They are boring on purpose.
- How many people will log in? If the answer is one, every per seat product is overpriced for you by design, whatever the feature list says.
- Which channel actually pays you? Not the one with the most followers. The one where your last five clients said yes. If that is WhatsApp only, the shortlist has one name on it.
- What does the bill follow? Active contacts, seats, or usage. This decides what a good month costs you. A viral reel is cheap on a seat based plan and expensive on a contact based one.
- Can you test on your own audience without a card? Chatfuel Light and the ManyChat free tier both let you. That is worth more than any comparison table, including this one.
- What happens at the handoff? Every tool here stops when the human part starts. The question is how quickly you notice, and whether the thread is still warm when you get there.
If your answer to question one is one, and your budget was the thing that sent you looking, be aware that the cheapest paid tier on this whole page is still ManyChat's own. Leaving to save money mostly does not work. Leaving because the shape is wrong does.
Before you compare monthly prices at all, it is worth knowing what the alternative to software costs: our breakdown of the real cost of an appointment setter puts these figures in perspective, and it is not a close contest.
What none of them will do for you
Here is the part a comparison table cannot show.
Every product on this page is excellent at the first half of the road. Someone comments, the trigger fires, the private message goes out in seconds, the resource is delivered, the tag is applied. That half is genuinely solved, and doing it by hand is a waste of your evening.
The second half is where the money is, and it is still yours. Somebody replies "I have tried three programmes and quit twice". No branch anticipates that sentence. Answering it well means reading it, asking the one question that separates a curious person from a buyer, and proposing a slot at the right moment. That is what our guide to qualifying leads in DMs is about, and the wording you can adapt is in our Instagram DM scripts that book discovery calls.
Then there is the message almost nobody sends: the follow up three days later, to the person who read everything and went quiet. It is the single cheapest booked call available to a solo coach, and no flow builder on this page will write it for you.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best free alternative to ManyChat? Chatfuel's Light plan is free and does not ask for a card, and it covers Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. AiSensy has a Free Forever tier if WhatsApp is your only channel. Worth knowing before you build on either: Chatfuel does not publish its numeric limits, so test with your real volume rather than a guess.
Is there a cheaper ManyChat alternative for one person? On this list, no. ManyChat's first paid tier is announced at 14 dollars a month, Chatfuel's paid tier at 49, Respond.io from 79 on annual billing and GoHighLevel from 97. If the bill is what pushed you to look, the more effective move is usually to lower your active contact count rather than to change vendor.
Which alternative is best for WhatsApp only? AiSensy is built for exactly that, with a free forever tier and pricing published in Indian rupees on its India page. Respond.io also covers WhatsApp well but is priced and shaped for teams of five or more.
Will switching tools get more calls booked? Only if your problem is the trigger or the price. If the pattern is that people reply and then go quiet, the bottleneck is the conversation, not the software, and our pilier guide on booking calls from your DMs is a better use of the next hour than any migration.
Is automating Instagram DMs allowed on these tools? Automation through the official APIs is allowed within Meta's rules, and the two that matter when you work alone are the standard twenty four hour window for replying to someone who wrote to you, and consent for anything beyond it. The policy overview is published by Meta and it applies to you, not to your vendor.
What we would do in your place
Solo, selling on Instagram, unsure: stay on a free tier for one more month and spend the saved hour on the follow up you are not sending. Chatfuel Light and the ManyChat free plan both cost nothing and both answer the only question that matters, which is whether your audience replies at all. Our piece on getting coaching clients from Instagram without posting daily assumes exactly that starting point.
WhatsApp is the whole business: AiSensy, with the rupee pricing and the Meta template fees factored in honestly. Two or three people already answering messages: Respond.io, and the seats stop being waste. An agency reselling to clients: GoHighLevel, and budget the usage on top rather than the sticker price.
Now the disclosure this article owes you. BookDM is not on the list above, because it is not open and we will not put a product you cannot buy in a comparison table. We are building an AI setter for solopreneurs, on Instagram DM and WhatsApp, aimed at the exact half none of these four covers: reading a real reply, asking the qualifying question, and turning it into a booked slot. It is not available yet, a free seven day trial is planned at opening, and the only thing you can do today is put your name down. If you want the deeper version of the argument first, our guide to what an AI setter does for a coach working alone is the place to start, and the mechanics of the funnel it plugs into are in the comment to DM funnel.
